Our Beliefs
Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS)
The WELS believes that the Holy Bible alone is God's divinely inspired, inerrant word.  It further believes that all people are born into this world as sinners in need of a Savior.

Psalm 51:5 says, "Surely I was sinful from birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me."
Romans 6:23a says, "For the wages of sin is death..."

We believe that Jesus Christ lived a perfect life, died an innocent death, and rose to save all people. We understand that we cannot get to heaven by our own works, we are saved by Jesus' works. Only those who hold fast to this gospel message by faith alone understand that they have been saved by God's grace alone.

Romans 6:23b says, "...but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus Our Lord."
Ephesians 2:8,9 says, "For it is by grace you have been saved -through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast."
